"Car Parking"

About: Samuel Johnson Community Hospital

On our first visit to the hospital the staff were excellent, very happy with the service and treatment, however this morning we received a £70.00 parking charge, even though we overpaid on our visit as we were un sure how long the consultation would take. We are discussed with this fine and have already appealed against the fine as we fortunately retained our ticket. I would like to know how this can happen and if it is legal to take photographs of our number plates arriving and leaving the hospital car park under the national health privacy laws. Under the freedom of information act I would like to know how many other visitors received fines on that day and if all of those fined payed cash.

Thank you for your positive comments regarding your patient experience and we shall pass on your comments to the nursing staff in the Cardiology Department at Samuel Johnson Community Hospital. We are sorry that you have been issued with a penalty charge notice when you have clearly tried to make a payment. We advise all of our patients and visitors who have received a penalty charge notice and do not feel it is justified to submit an appeal via www.parkingeye.co.uk/appeal or call 0844 247 2982 so that the circumstances can be investigated further. If following this process you are still unsatisfied please contact the Trust’s Facilities department on 01283 511511 extension 5359 so that we can try and resolve the issue. If you would like to request information about the number of penalty charge notices issued, you will need to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act; we will require your contact details, and we would therefore ask that you please email FOI@burtonft.nhs.uk or in writing to Louise Shepherd, FOI Officer, The House, Belvedere Road, Burton on Trent, Staffs. DE13 0RB.
