"Outstanding care from the Perinatal Mental Health Service team in GLasgow"

About: Glasgow Central

(as the patient),

I had a depressive illness during and after pregnancy and was referred to the perinatal team. I had multiple concerns about medication during pregnancy and then when breast feeding. However my choices about treatment were respected, for which I was very grateful. When I became worse after giving birth I was admitted to hospital. The consultant, Dr Cantwell, John, the charge nurse, together with the nursing staff and nursery staff were outstandingly kind, helpful and supportive. Dr Cantwell and the nursing staff have encouraged me to phone the perinatal unit at any time for support post discharge and the nurses have also visited me at home regularly. They have made time for me at short notice and they have cared for me with huge professionalism. I have no doubt their care stopped me from taking my intended final actions. I am now much better, enjoying life with my family and cannot thank the perinatal team for their care enough.
