What I liked

I have been a customer of FPH almost since it opened and have oserved over recent years a steady and marked improvement in the buildings, patient care, cleanliness and the way staff intereact with an involve the patient in everything that is going on and being done.

My treatment in the Day Unit, yetserday, was enjoyable and the staff were friendly and were 'interested' in the people they were dealing with. The medical staff wanted to ensure that I was comfortable at all stages with my treatment even to the stage that the anaethnatist came to see me after my procedure to ensure that some trival damage to my lip was OK.

What could be improved

This is not a criticism! Standing back and looking at the process of getting people into the Day Unit all at the same time seems unweildy and ensures that thst staff are almost run off their feet and understaffed initially and then work flattens out and they are overstaffed. If arrivals be 'staged' the work flow would even out. Also patients in day care would arrive closer to their procedure time, get less bored waiting and overall feel better about their visit.could Just an observation.

I see from the local paper that in other part of the hospital you have hsopital aquired infections. At no stage yesterday was I encouraged to use a hand gel. Yes their are plenty of notices but no physical encouragement.

P&O Cruises insist, in their cafeteria areas, that gel is used on entry to the area with a man stood there 'squirting' gel onto customers hands. It is accepted by everyone, without question.

Anything else?

Why do relatives picking up patients from, in particular, the Day Unit have to pay for the priviledge? They are called at the time they need to pick up, are generally in the hospital for less than 20 mins and still have to pay £1. Not that I personally begrudge the £1 and can afford it, others may not be so fortunate.

Why are patients not routinely asked for feedback, or are they? I have never been asked to provide feedback and I had to search for this form.
