Some departments are really 'on the ball', however some most definitely are not. Cleaning around the hospital is hit-and-miss: on some wards the cleaning teams are really good, however as a patient I am somewhat put-off when I see that someone has written 'MRSA' in the dust on a handrail on one of the staircases. For the most part things do go according to plan/expectation, however when they don't and you, as a patient or relative, want answers, be prepared to be stonewalled. The Chief Executive won't just be evasive, he will completely ignore all attempts at communication. When visiting A&E be prepared to fight for what you need - which may mean demanding to see the duty consultant. The attitude and competency of staff in the diagnostic ultrasound department is atrocious.
