I was understandably concerned about our first scan for our first baby, as an older mother (41) I was also acutely aware of the risks and that the scan was predominantly to check for Down's syndrome. We could not have been made to feel more welcome and the ultra sound practioner was extremely helpful, kind and reassuring. The nurse who look my blood, took time to talk me through the next stage of results, where to get help and additional support, if we wanted or needed it - and held my hand as we discussed the different risks that may result from the test. It was an exceptionally reassuring experience at a particularly stressful time.
"12 week scan"
