The crisis team, in my opinion, are dreadful on the whole. There are a few workers who are good but most are probably in need of help themselves. They seem dictatorial, and sound like they threaten clients with calling the police if they call and the client does not pick up the phone. The problem is that often they call outside agreed times and then panic and start threatening when the client is not at home. They seem unable to support people in crisis who have been assessed under the mental health act and referred for home treatment from the Assessment doctors. The crisis team then seem unable to support the client believing their intervention will make things worse or that there support is not the appropriate service - even when the client is in total crisis to warrant an assessment being called. The crisis team then discharge the client back to the keyworker who called for the mental health act assessment

Thank you for your comments - we need to hear what people think of what we do in order to ensure that we can provide the best service possible.

In mental health services, we do sometimes need to make judgement calls about the level of risk which a person presents and this will not always be in line with the way that individual understands the situation. Hopefully in circumstances where we have long term contact with people we build a relationship where this dilemma can be discussed openly.

I am sorry that does not feel like the situation you have with us at the moment and I appreciate the use of the mental health act can sometimes complicate often already complicated situations and working relationships.
