"tests to check colon in the endoscopy department."

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

Hello! My name is Sally.I would like to say my afternoon stay in the endoscopy unit was welcomed by the team of nurses who put me at ease during my colonoscopy. The procedure is a little uncomfortable at times but with the help of the nurses wasn,t too bad.My mother and her sister both had bowel cancer 5 years ago so this procedure was beneficial for me.A few polyps were removed and a couple of biopsies taken so hopefully will receive the results via phone call or letter. If it comes back positive I will take it in my stride and do all the consultants say. This procedure was done on the 18th March. My symptoms are so bad that I can,t always make it to the toilet, day in day out.I must say a special thankyou to two particular members of staff and the nurse that stayed with me reassuring me along the way and keeping me pain free as much as possible. The admittance/discharge nurse was lovely too. Thanks again and kind regards Sally. x

Dear Sally, thank you for taking the time to write in and tell us of such a positive experience you have had within the Gastroenterlogy Department. I'm pleased to note that with the help of the nurses you were pain free and put at ease with the colonoscopy. Please be assured that I will of course forward your comments on to their department as I am sure they would be delighted to hear of such positive feedback.
