"No recognition that patients must be warned of..."

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road Campus)

The complaints system at this hospital is a joke. I was not warned of any risk when a doctor in A and E saw me as I had a slightly irritated eye. He said there was something in it that had been there a long time. However , I had never felt it and I do not believe it was the cause of the irritation, which I now believe was down to dry eyes. They decided to take it out without warning me that there was any risk. The invasive procedure has left me with a life changing condition called recurrent corneal erosion syndrome where recurrently my eye is very painful and I cant see properly for days on end. My other eye doesn't work (lazy eye). My life is now miserable. They won't even admit it was wrong of them not to warn me of the risks. It's about time they respected the rights of patients to be allowed to make an informed decision by giving full information on risks before they do something which may ruin your life. Is this what they call respect for patients?

I'm sorry to hear about this. It sounds as though you have already made a formal complaint, which is the best way to ensure that we take note of problems and make improvements for others in the future.
