"Awful place, unsuccessful procedure"

About: Homerton University Hospital

First, I had a herniaplasty here and three months later and still in pain with numbness. my doctor told me this could continue for years. Was told that surgeon had probably cut through a nerve. Second, the patient care is appalling. You are shunted around like cattle, the surgeon seemed completely disinterested in me, looked at me like an object, and the aftercare was dreadful - for instance, after the operation, you are put in a chair to wait for you person who is collecting you and when I got up to go, the nurse tried to just give me my suitcase to carry even though I am not supposed to list anything over 6kg, and acted very put out when I asked her to carry it. Waiting time before the operation was about 5 hours as i was last on the list, sitting in a horrible 'sitting room' in a dressing gown, no refreshments or anything, dreadful. Also, i should mention the consultation - also dreadful, there was no indication of the pain that follows this procedure, neither was any other option explained or offered to me such as keyhole surgery. The consultant explained that they were short staffed that day and she was having an bad day - she seemed more concerned about herself that me and my needs! All in all, I had an appalling experience here at this hospital, if you have any choice for your operation I beg you do not go here!
