"The speed with which i was cared ..."

About: Queen Elizabeth I I Hospital (Welwyn Garden City)

(as the patient),

What I liked

The speed with which i was cared for. The professionalism of all the staff. The cleanliness, how i was treated, how i was involved, communication of what was going to happen at my operation and ongoing. When a small issue came up how it was resolved.

What could be improved

Not having to have a thing shoved in my ear at 6am and then my blood pressure taken (lol) but i understand why and why the time. Methodology / avalability of equipment in reducing the swelling to my foot could be improved i believe.

Anything else?

In Oct 2008 I had an accident resulting in my left heel being crushed. The ambulance staff were fantastic. At A&E I was very quickly seen to and the situation clarified, I was made comfortable and pain relief was quickly given. Following a short wait for a bed I was transferred to Princes wing where I stayed for a fortnight. During that time the nurses looked after me so well it made the stay so much more bearable. The theatre staff nurses, anaethesist, and surgeons explained everything and helped reassure me which in itself was an extremely calming influence. The food was ok but come on serving it when Goldenballs is on, hey !!!! :) When it came time to leave the administration was good and I went away knowing about my first follow up appointment. I had to go back in mid November for another small operation on my foot some 4 weeks after leaving and was warmly welcomed. The nurse taking me to my operation was so kind and reassuring it so so helped. The theatre staff again were brilliant especially when i had some pain upon waking and there reassurance and help was invaluable. At the follow up appts I have been seen by both the surgeon and registrar again both of which had very high interpersonal skills and of course professionalism. The treatment to my foot is still ongoing but I know my foot is in safe hands !!!

To all the people at the QE2 who looked after me and if you read this you know who you are thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you so so much. If anyone reading this and is considering going to this hospital you would be looked after by a quite frankly amazing team of people. Thank you QE2 Stevex

Thank you so much for your kind words. We won't wait for our staff to read this by chance - we'll make sure that we pass on your gratitude to them directly.
