I recently had neurosurgery & would like to thank the nurses & pre-op staff for keeping me informed & calm as I was very nervous. It was brilliant that my husband could stay by my bed until I went to theatre at 3.15pm which helped a lot also. Theatre staff very kind & proficient too. Staff in recovery were very kind & cheerful when taking me to ward N2. The ward was very busy as it seemed a lot of post op Neurology patients were on the ward which made it very hectic & very noisy, not a lot of sleep and rest! I did have to ask for a hot drink & something to eat at 10pm as I had not been offered anything, I was made me a lovely cup of tea & given my requested digestive biscuits. I was a 'bed rest' patient and not offered a wash of any kind until I was given the all clear to get out of bed at around lunch time! Discharge was just as busy due to the amount of post op patients and finally discharged at 4 45pm. I found most of the staff on the ward friendly but due to the work levels rather rushed. The ward was kept exceptionally clean at all times. Thanks to all who cared for me when not feeling my best they could not do any more to make my stay comfortable.
