"POCU/McCollough"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

My Mum had a procedure booked for Tuesday of this week. She was there at 7.15am. Due to poor blood levels she could not have said procedure. She was left sitting in a wheelchair until 3.30pm in the waiting area. Someone made her tea and toast. Eventually someone took 'pity' on her hand 'found' her a room. Surely as she had a procedure booked she would have had a bed anyway? I was left waiting at the nurses station for a good 10 mins, staff just walked past with bits of paper in their hands, trying to look busy. SOmeone answered the phone right in front of me, then walked off. Just utter rudeness. Now she is on McCollough ward and it seems that some staff do not know how to set a drip up, even I could see that the tube had blood in so was blocked. Staff had also left soiled underwear on the chair and in her locker. I had to ask for a water jug after she came round from the GA. I also notice that replies are only made to comments that are praising the hospital!!!! The hospital deserves all the bad publicity its receiving . . .

I am very sorry to hear about your mum's recent experience at the hospital. I would be grateful if you could contact me so I can gather a bit more information from you and address the concerns you have raised.
