"hysterectomy after care on ward"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

During my brief stay on ward after total hysterectomy I saw was seen by a number of nurses. None of whom I can name as they did not introduce themselves. None apoeared ti have time for bedside chat. They only appeared at set times e.g for observations, medications etc. The food choice was poor and lacked heathy quality. The first thing served to me was toast blackened on one side. The tuna sandwich the next day was not at all nice and the banana less than ripe neither of which i ate much off. the lady in the bed next to me said her cottage pie was not nice either. When I asked for herbal tea I was told the ward sister had a private supply but I never received any. I was glad to come home where I can eat a healthy choice of foods and recover with better care.

Please accept my sincere apologies that you felt staff did not have time for a bedside chat and that on admission, staff failed to introduce themselves. This matter will be discussed prior to handovers over the next two weeks and will be discussed at the next ward meeting. I will endeavour to add a supply of herbal teas to the tea trolley and I apologise you didn’t receive a drink of your choice. I will forward your comments about food to the catering department.
