"First Visit to Endoscopy Clinic"

About: The Princess Royal Hospital (Telford)

I visited the Endoscopy Clinic yesterday and was most impressed with the efficiency of the reception and the friendliness of the staff. I arrived in good time, was taken through the reception process almost immediately and then waited less than 10 minutes before being taken through to meet the doctor and nurses for the procedure. I found them to be friendly, more than willing to explain everything and very kind throughout. I had opted for a local anaesthetic spray so ,even though the procedure isn't much fun , I knew it wouldn't be painful, just uncomfortable. The whole thing lasted less than 5 minutes and the nurse reassured me throughout. The doctor then went through his findings with me and explained when I would hear from my GP and so on. After a 5 minutes recovery, I was free to go, greatly reassured by what I had been told. I would certainly recommend the unit and the procedure as a swift way to find out if there really is a problem to be treated. Further, I offer my warmest thanks to all the staff I encountered yesterday.

Dear Lyn Thank you so much for your lovely feedback about the endoscopy service at the Princess Royal Hospital. It is great to hear that you found the team to be friendly and helpful. The prospect of an endoscopy procedure can be an anxious time, so the reassurance of a professional team is really important. So, I am really pleased to hear that you found this to be the case. I truly have been receiving some wonderful feedback about the endoscopy teams at both our hospitals - Telford and Shrewsbury - and I will make sure that yours is shared with the team. The comments we receive via NHS Choices are hand-written onto Comment Cards and hand-delivered to the frontline team concerned. I will either do this myself or ask another colleague on the Executive Team to do this. Thanks again. Adrian Osborne Communications Director The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust
