"treatment of cancer lottery"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton)

Im concerned that treatment of cancer such as chemotherapy is dependent on 'slots'. My husband has lung cancer and cant start his chemo until a suitable slot has become available. This worries me as he really needs to get started. He wont have long left to live without the chemo and it just feels like a huge delay on getting started, prolonging his life. I have been told that he could be called if there is a cancellation, but after phoning up each morning have been told that there are no all day slots for him. the slots go to those who are in for the mornings or afternoons. so frustrating for us both. I dont usually write up reports like this but feel I have to here.
