Every effort was made to support my wife and her wish to remain at home. She was given 2 to 3 months, with a diagnosis of meningeal disease, but made 9 months - she was always willing to prove a man wrong...
I have nothing but praise for the local NHS and Aberdeenshire Council staff - they have all been fantastic, and I have been overwhelmed by the quality of care provided to my wife. In particular, I would single out:
Scott Samuel, my wife's GP at the Ellon practice. The man is a saint in my opinion, and the NHS needs more GPs like Scott.
Jim Humes, my GP - sometimes people forget the partner/carer, but he was great.
Danny and the Ward 15 staff at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Helen, the volunteer on Ward 15.
District Nurses: Lorna and her team at Ellon surgery. Nothing was ever too much trouble
Palliative Care - Dr Gordon Linklater at the hospice, another wonderful man.
Macmillan - Joyce Murray, who has been my personal rock throughout this journey.
Aberdeenshire Council Care staff - Lesley Penny, and the ladies who work for her (Dot, Dian and Susan in the main).
Occupational Therapy: Alison Rodger. We called her 'Q', because she seemed to have a gadget for everything!
All of you - I will be eternally grateful, and if you ever need a favour, you only have to ask!
