Underwent operation and was surprised that post op no physical observations were carried out after 8pm until the following morning. Unfortunately I needed to be hospitalised 2 weeks after I was discharged due to complications from my operation. I was shocked again that I was not properly monitored and the consequences that occurred from that which clearly influenced the length of time it took me to fully recover. During my brief period of being in hospital (3 days on total) following complications from surgery I was was also moved to three different wards which didn't help matters. The care I received on downlands ward which I believe is a private ward was thankfully no different to the care I had received on the other two wards. The care was equally as appaulling. Although I must say I have no complaints with the doctors that were involved with my care, I am embarrassed and ashamed to say that it was a pity I could not say the same for the nursing care. This is for reasons that as a nurse myself I would not show such disregard for patient care and am disappointed that the majority of nurses I had dealings with in the hospital are practicing in this manner and as such are giving the nursing profession a bad reputation.
