Some while ago I brought to the attention of the hospital the discomfort of my wife whilst sat in the cold and somewhat undignified main corridor waiting for day surgery. I wrote to the hospital again to say that although they said they would be taking note of my concerns, nothing had actually changed. At the beginning of February the hospital said that they were holding a meeting with the relevant managers and would be introducing some changes to allow better waiting conditions for patients. Out of curiosity, I popped in the other day to see if anything had changed. I was dismayed to see that patients were still waiting behind the makeshift screen in the main corridor, still on very low and impractical seating and still with virtually no privacy. The only upside I could notice is that it wasn't quite so cold, but that is more the result of some unseasonably warm days recently, together with the main front door which was locked shut as it was broken, rather than by design of the hospital managers for surgery. Whoever is the manager of the people who are meant to have designed this setup needs to take a good look at what is actually going on.
