My mother was sent to the hospital in October 2012, the staff were very nice and it was clean in A & E. The problem was lack of information about my mothers condition, as I was the only member of the family with her, my sisters who live some distance was relying on feedback from me, this continued when she was sent to the assessment ward no one would give me any information until I lost my temper and request a doctor come and talk to me. They knew exactly what my mothers condition was so why do they put family through even more stress than necessary. However my mother was not going to recover from her illness and was then sent to the special care ward, I have to say the staff on this ward were excellent and eventually we were able to come to terms with what was happening. It is very important to tell the family even if it is bad news, I was put in a situation with not knowing whether to tell my sisters to make the journey to the Hospital or not and they were waiting for my call, they waited 2 days it really was unacceptable. Had the same problem when my husband died in 1996, so think its time to look into this urgently now. I understand if the doctors don't know but in both these cases the doctors had the information and failed to inform the relative or in my case me the wife.
