"My daughter was in this hospital ..."

What could be improved

My daughter was in this hospital this week. I am still shocked regarding the standards of how my daughter was treated. Data Protection was breached. Health and Safety breached. The hospital policies and procedures breached.

1. A nurse came to my daughter's bed was about to give her insulin my daughter is not a diabetic. Challenged the nurse who then said oh you got a similar name to other patient in the next bed and then gave the other patient the insulin without even checking.

2. Nurse approached my daughter and said i have come to empty your cathether bag. She did not have one.

3. Nurse approached me and asked if my daughter had gone for a scan i said she then stated there was an older lady on the phone that lives opposite wanting to know how my daughter was. I explained to the nurse that no older person does not live opposite to me and you must have the wrong person. The nurse then stated i will just tell her she gone for her scan and is alright. I informed the nurse that i did not want any information about my daughter passing on to this lady to which she ignored my request and informed a stranger about my daughter's progress.

3. Nurse proceeded to take out the canular in my daughter's arm without wearing rubber gloves.

4.. My daughter was discharged and i returned to the ward later to collect her medication and witnessed a nurse injecting a patient on the corridor!!!!!!!

Anything else?

I can not believe this hospital has received the star rating it has it clearly does not score highly by any standard!!!!!!!

The staff clearly need refresher training on policies and procedures!

Thank goodness you can now choose to have your treatment elsewhere my daughter will be doing.
