"I was on Ward 312 and the staff, ..."

About: Royal Derby Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was on Ward 312 and the staff, both medical and non-medical, were professional and friendly. Any questions I asked were answered promptly either by the person I asked or by somebody more senior.

What could be improved

The Hospicom ? system has free television between 12pm and 1pm but it would be better if it were free between 1pm to 2pm as this would allow patients to see the national and local news programmes on ITV and BBC 1. I think this would be helpful to the patients as it's easy to become insulated from what is happening in the outside world wilst you're in hospital.

Anything else?

Get rid of the steamplicity system and use a microwave instead. Steamed Chicken Korma just doesn't work very well.

All in all, my stay (a week) in the hospital seemed to pass very quickly.

Thank you for your positive comments; we are always pleased to hear about good patient experiences. Patient media services, including TV, web, games, phone and radio are provided by Hospicom, a company that specialise in providing bedside communication and entertainment systems in NHS hospitals. The tariffs and times for these services are set nationally and not by Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust or individual Trusts.
