What I liked

I found the facilities at the Lister to be superb, the staff, nursing or otherwise, were always prepared to do a little more for me than I could have asked.

The food was always hot and enjoyable.

During my 10 day stay everyone did their utmost to make me comfortable dispite my difficulties.

I cannot thank everyone at the Lister enough.

What could be improved

My only criticism would be of the charges for visitor's parking - this could be well in excess of £35 per week. Perhaps one way to help visitors would be to operate a "Pay on exit" system charged at half hour increments not as a minimum of 2 hours as it is at present

Thank you for your very kind comments about the care you received from our staff during recent stay at the Lister.

With regard to parking at the hospital, we have previously looked at introducing the system you suggest. There are three good reasons why it's not possible immediately:

- the prohibitive cost

- gating the current car parks would cause problems for emergency services access, especially for ambulances

- the Trust is already developing a multi-storey car park at the Lister that, subject to final approval, will be built by the end of 2010. This will allow us to charge patients and visitors for the time they use through a pay on exit system.

Finally for those parking at our hospitals in the meantime, it may interest you to know that we have a range of season tickets available, including a:

- weekly ticket, available from the pay machines, costing £18

- monthly ticket at £20 and three-monthly ticket at £30 - both available on application through the parking office (ask staff for further information)
