"Would have been nice to have been informed"
Posted by Carl Kerby
I had been referred to the outpatients department by my doctor because I had experienced bleeding when passing motions. The date I was given was 13/03/20014 at 17.20. When my wife and I arrived at reception we were told (eventually) that the appointment had been cancelled and another appointment made for the 15/04/2014. I expressed concern at two factors.1/We were never informed. 2/ The appointment was 4 weeks later. This meant a period of at least 12 weeks from referral. I realise max. waiting times are 18weeks but how inconsiderate not to have informed me, never mind the stress I was put under that day and the subsequent result of a further months stressful wait. The receptionist was quite dismissive and said she could do nothing about it as everybody had gone home for the day. I have only ever been in hospital once in all my 64 years and only visited a doctor when absolutely necessary. I am disgusted with the way I am being treated. Carl Kerby
