"The Staff on ward 20 were most ..."

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

(as a relative),

What I liked

The Staff on ward 20 were most helpful and then a on to ward 8, overall the staff will do anything for you providing they have the time and resouces.

What could be improved

My Husband is on what is know as a Nightingale ward where there is at least 27 beds, this is far too many patients for the amount of staff who are trying to do their best for everyone, some patients being very high maintainence .

Having had an operation late afternoon he was awakened along with other patients at 12.00am to be asked what he wanted for meals the following day! In the middle of having that meal the following day he was asked to get out of bed to be weighed! hence the meal was cold and couldnt be eaten, surely this could have waited 10 mins or was it a matter of having to complete these tasks when staff were available

Anything else?

Bring back Matrons on each ward . years ago it was very very stricked, but I now feel that it has gone too far the other way, although the treatment that my husband will recieve will be expert, the system lets the staff down. Why in this day and age do we still have such big wards surely 4 or 6 bed wards are more condusive to patient care, but of course may take more staff to run them
