"Rude nurses and lack of interest"

About: Manor Hospital

I went with my boyfriend to a&e last week as he was experiencing chest pains and had been suffering with a headache for over 2 weeks. He was sent straight through to the ward where he was given an ECG, following this test, he was then left and not seen by a doctor for over 2 hours. We finally gave up trying to get anyone's attention and informed one of the nurses on duty that he was leaving as he hadn't been seen for over 2 hours, her response was 'well, we're busy' and then walked off from him! How rude and unprefessional! The following day at work, the pains got worse and so we went back to a&e. We were then left waiting for over 5 hours before being taken through to the ward. During this time, people who were in obvious pain & discomfort were leaving due to not being seen. If anyone questioned the reception staff, they were met with an abrupt response of 'we are very busy'. When my boyfriend finally got a bed in the ward, he was left for a further hour before a doctor came to him. During this time we were able to see numerous nurses and doctors just standing around and reading notes, but not an awful lot of work seemed to be taking place. We also got to witness the rude nurse from the night before bad-mouthing a member of the paramedic staff. So unbelievably unprofessional! When a doctor finally saw my boyfriend, they lost all interest in what he was saying about his headache once he said he hadn't been vomiting. They told him to take paracetamol and put his chest pains down to a pulled muscle. I know all a&e departments are busy, but the staff seemed to spend more time walking around looking at notes or chatting rather than actually dealing with patients. Also, never have I overheard or seen such unprofessional behaviour as I did from the one nurse on both of the nights we were there.
