"My daughter was born 6 weeks premature ..."

About: Pilgrim Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

My daughter was born 6 weeks premature weighing only 2 pounds and was admitted to SCBU, I could not have had any better care for myself or my daughter, the staff are fantastic right down to the cleaners. We had a long stay and a very difficult time but the staff made it a bearable experience. My husband and I were always kept fully informed of all the developments and treatments that she was receiving or required. It was also made easy when my older daughter went to visit, being only 14 months she was not the quietist visitor but I never felt like she was unwelcome. The staff all seemed so happy in their jobs and this showed every day even after long shifts they had time for you. Whilst I was very happy to finally take my daughter home it was sad leaving the staff as I felt like one of the family. The ward and the parents room were always very clean and tidy.

What could be improved

It is a shame this hospital does not offer the more intensive care such as TPN feeding due to the lack of a HDU facility as we had to spend a week in Nottingham and while the care there was also very good it was not quite the same as being at Pilgrim SCBU.

Anything else?

I would just like to take this opportunity to once again say a massive thank you to all the staff on SCBU from all of our family.
