About: Grantham & District Hospital

Visited a&e after falling and injuring my ankle- The wait was reasonable but the receptionist was rude and seemed to find people asking for help a massive inconvenience to her. After waiting in a side room for 40 minutes I finally got a doctor who rather rudely told me that 'if it was broken you would scream if I touched it' So I got sent away with an ankle injury leaflet. The next day the pain increased by 10x and I started to feel burning sensations in my foot so I rang NHS direct who told me to go straight to a&e. Again, I waited and waited in a side room while a doctor reviewed my x-rays. This time I was given crutches, a prescription for pain killers and an appointment with a specialist for later in the week. When I returned I was once again confronted by a rude doctor who neither looked at or touched my ankle. He diagnosed me with ligament damage by the method of injury rather than looking at my balloon sized ankle. To get to this appointment I had to take time off work, arrange someone to drive me 20 miles to the hospital and pay for car parking!! All this to be told I had twisted my ankle! Why make me an appointment with a specialist when it was clear that they just wanted me out the door as quick as possible? So now I'm under a private hospital and under going treatment for torn ankle ligaments which could take up to 4 months to heal. Just wish I'd gone to a decent hospital rather than wasting my time ( and money ) at Grantham. If you've got the option to go elsewhere then please do!!!
