As a diabetic, I am in need of regular visits to the podiatry service for treatment on my feet. The local NHS service can only do appointments every 12 weeks. I need to go more regularly or I am in pain. I have to pay to go privately every 6 weeks. The private care is much better, but I don't think it's right that I have to pay. The NHS is letting me down! I can't book an NHS appointment easily either. I have to ring the Countess of Chester podiatry department to book an appointment, but they won't take bookings less than a month in advance - I have to be put on a waiting list.

I am sorry you are unhappy with the frequency of appointments that we offer.

We provide podiatry treatment based on clinical need, and include both your medical conditions and foot problems in our assessment. If you have been told you are able to have treatment every 12 weeks, you will have been assessed as "low risk". Patients with diabetes who have additional medical problems that predispose them to developing significant complications, may be assessed as being at higher risk, and they will be seen more frequently.
