"I waited 8 months for an appointment to the podiatry clinic"

About: Community Health Services / Podiatry

(as the patient),

I am a 73-year-old type 2 diabetic who needs podiatry treatment quite regularly. I need my toenail cutting quite regularly but I am a bit wary of cutting them myself, in case I cut my toes.

I waited 8 months for an appointment to the podiatry clinic at Nutgrove Villa, Huyton.

Dear Scented54

Thank you very much for your feedback around your podiatry appointment. I do apologise for any upset caused due to the long waiting times between appointments.

Unfortunately, Nutgrove Villa is one of our busiest clinics within podiatry and there is a huge demand for both new and review appointments. We constantly monitor waiting times at all our sites and divert resources to the areas of highest demand but we are limited at Nutgrove Villa due to lack of extra space being available to deliver extra sessions. Due to the high demand for appointments we have to prioritise appointments for those with the highest clinical need but we will always deal with any emergency appointments within 24 hours. By putting extra sessions into Nutgrove Villa, in more recent months both on Saturdays and working in to the evenings, the waits have now reduced significantly and we will try to maintain this improvement in to the future.

Thank you again for your feedback. I trust that our response addresses your concerns.

With best wishes
