"3hrs. And 10 mins of agony"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

Was taken to a and e by wonderful ambulance men then spent 3hrs and 10 mins in agony before dr came to give pain relief . Iam very resilient to pain killers and it is so frustrating trying to get people to understand this. Left there was put inshort stay for about twenty mins still in pain no luck there. Then they put me in Redwood ward here the staff were all very kind but once again the issue of my awful pain was not understood I don't know how many times I told them I was in agony . Stayed in six days saw everybody under the sun and must have been prodded by so many drs for my pain nobody would listen that pain killers have no effect I must have begged for help a hundred times being depressed dosent help but that two is a illness once again nurses etc don't understand but then they won't. Unless they have. Experianced it themselves. I was seem by medical surgical pain team mental health people who all I was ok. But what about the PAIN. I know iam coming back for tests and the pain said I was on the only thing they could give me. But that is not good enough I suffered all the time is was in there even threatening suicide but still no one would stop the pain. Iam going to contact local papers about this because it's so wrong wether someone has problems with painkillers or not. I was sent home with the same ones I had in hospital so I shall suffer here instead. They told me my mental state was making the pain worse which is a load of rubbish. I met a person in there how was a lot stronger than me who shouted at the Drs they got the best pain medication you can get. But iam weak and not strong enough to stick up for myself so people just walk over me. They fob me off with everything so I had to suffer. The nursing staff were wonderful and so overworked they kindness is amazing and they really care for you so we'll a nurse on the night I left and one of the nights I threatened suicide was so wonderful I won't say her name but she even phoned to see if I got home she deserves a medal for her kindness. So please understand my desperation about suffering in pain all the time it is not fair and I know they could have done more because. A and. E. Told me the steps they. Should take to stop pain , but this never happened on the ward. So iam now worried if it gets really bad again wat will happen to me neck.

We are very sorry to hear of your recent experience at Darent Valley Hospital. We take all patients’ description of their pain very seriously and we have very clear guidelines as to how pain should be managed in the hospital setting. We would strongly encourage you to see your GP as soon as possible to discuss your current health problems and to see if the issue can be resolved. We are more than happy to discuss your individual care personally if you wish and we are happy to work with you to ensure that any future attendances do not result in the distress you suffered on this occasion.
