my mother has been in and out of hospital since august 2013 she came out two weeks and returned on Monday 3rd march, she spent one night on A&E ops ward then was moved to ward 4 for half a day and then spent one night on HDU when on Wednesday 5th march moved to a side room on ward 1 where she was to be barrier nursed.... the staff would walk in and out of the room with out the correct protection ie aprons groves at 7pm when visiting started we put our protective wear on before entering the room when my self my younger sister and my grandmother went to the room there was bodily fluids on the floor my grandmother left the room and asked a HCA if they could get someone to clean the floor 20mins later a cleaner came in with a mop bucket no apron or no gloves my mother explain that she needed to leave the room and suit up before returning and that the cleaner couldn't use the mop bucket she had bought in as she is being reversed barrier nursed the cleaner said to my mum "get off" and walked off out of the room my younger sister went to get a nurse to complain as the way the cleaner spoke to my mother was rude unprofessional, as my sister went to ward 1 nurses desk the cleaner went up behind her shouting calling her a lair and that she hadn't said anything to my mum there was 4 in the room that witnessed what this cleaner had said. 5mins later 2nurses walked in the room again and asked what the problem was my mum once again asked them to put gloves and aprons on to proect her the nurse told my mother not to be rude and don't tell her what to do as she is a nurse and she knows what to do, after talking for ten mins the nurse then asked why my mother was being barrier nursed shouldn't the nurses know when a client comes to a ward there case if they need barrier nursing? the way my mother has been spoken to from the staff of ward 1 is wrong, rude, and unprofessional
