I was referred to by Central Middlesex Hospital because they no longer have a surgical unit. A routine operation "so I was told" which should normally last 20 minutes and 20 minutes in recovery and then half day in hospital turned into a nightmare. Firstly there were so many doctors involved to date I still do not know who did this to me. After operation I awoke to the most awful pain imaginable for an hour and forty five minutes I was in recovery so they could figure out how to control my pain. I could not walk for 2 days and on day 2 were told that the operation was unsuccessful and they would need to operate again. By then I just wanted to be discharged and go for a second opinion so eventually after six days still in pain and doing my own dressings I told them if I do not get discharged immediately I would do it myself. I also contacted PALS but until to day never received a call back only after I complained to the CQC did I eventually get a letter after the fact. I only realised what sort of treatment I actually needed to get when I became an outpatient at St Charles Hospital. The staff there were absolutely appalled by the way my open wound was treated. I will definitely take this matter further to let people know how horrible Northwick Park hospital services are or should I say lack of.
"Horrible experience - Stay away"
