I was brought in by ambulance about 3.30a.m. on a Sat. after having had violent shaking and a pain in chest plus an extremely high temperature, which was treated with a Paracetamol drip in the ambulance. The nurses were very good and took BP/temp/ECG several times They also took blood. I didn't see the Doctor for the 1st time until after the bloods came back, but when she eventually came in she didn't bother to examine me or ask questions. She assumed that I had a chest infection and had been waiting for the Bloods result. I eventually had a chest x-ray about 7a.m. and when that report was back the Dr. came into the cubicle and said that everything was fine "Because there was nothing wrong that I would be admitted for and that was all they were supposed to do. Not like GP who have to make a diagnosis and it could be muscular" I was then sent away. I have since contacted by GP who has diagnosed not a chest infection but a urinary tract infection and put me on medication. The Dr. was appalling, sitting at the table all the time and complaining about how tired she was. (This was directly opposite my cubicle) so I could see her all the time. She should not be a Dr. in A & E. at all, a total disgrace. A & E is not about her, it's about the patients who are usually very worried by what has happened to them and need to be advised about what is being done. Surely the first thing a Dr. should do is to examine the patient, as early as possible and to tell what they have found, not treat them as if they are nuisance.
"A & E at night."
