"Dreadful lack of monitoring of Dementia patients."

My husband was admitted to this ward on 19th December last year and had only been there a few days before he was attacked. My husband was in his bed and was attacked by another person. Directly after the attack he suffered a stroke down his left side. We rushed to A&E in Arrowe Park Hospital, where he was being tended to. He had a very swollen face and a very black eye and couldn't move his left arm or leg. He was admitted to the Stroke Unit in Arrowe Park Hospital and was there for several weeks before he went into a nursing home. I would not have allowed him back into Meadowbank again! Prior to entering Meadowbank he could walk with the help of a stick and could also make his own way to the toilet and needed no help whilst there.................now he cannot walk unaided and needs two helpers to take him anywhere. He cannot get himself into or out of bed and he is doubly incontinent. I am taking this further because of the stress this has caused the whole family I suffered a heart attack and ended up in hospital myself. There was only a verbal apology from a member of the staff. I think that is disgraceful. Why did this happen, where were the staff? I will not stop until I get some satisfaction from this terrible incident!
