I am writing to comment upon my experience of attending the Neurology Outpatients at the Leicester General Hospital – in particular on Thursday afternoons for the Parkinson’s Clinic seeing the doctor. His input has always been of the highest standard and I have communicated with him separately. My comments concern the reception, secretarial and nursing staff. I have attended the clinic regularly although not frequently over several years. The staff members have without exception been efficient, friendly and warm. Notably so. I did wonder whether this was because I was in some sense a colleague and that perhaps I was therefore being treated differently. However, my observations of their interaction with other patients led me to conclude that this was not the case. Their efficient, skilful and warm approach was evident with all of the patients. Everyone seemed to be receiving this “special” treatment. I am moving away from Leicester and am about to attend the Clinic for the last time. In these times of complaint about the NHS, I wished to place on record my positive experience of the unobtrusive excellence of what is probably an unsung and certainly an unglamorous corner of the service.
