"Saddened The clinic may be moving"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

I have attended the diabetic clinic for over 20 years and have all respect for the staff and care they provide this is why today I am saddened to hear they are possibly moving the clinic from The Leicester Royal to The General. Why have we not all had letters to advise us of these possible moves so we can give our opinions since it will be the patients it will affect. They have simply put a computer in the clinic so you can say your concerns, which for some people if they only go once or twice a year may be too late as the decision will have already been made! Judging from others I have talked to this is not a popular move since the General is not so accessible to most including myself!

Response from Leicester Royal Infirmary

Dear reviewer, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us about the diabetes clinic at Leicester Royal Infirmary, we have shared your kind words of praise about the high level of care with the team. With regards to your concerns about the clinic moving to Leicester General Hospital, I would like to reassure you that this has been widely discussed among the Diabetes Team with our senior management team as well as at several public consultation events. We are very sorry if you were not aware of these meetings when they were hosted. We have also done our best to share these potential changes with all patients who use the clinics via the patient survey currently available in clinic itself. This has proved to be a very good way of enabling patients to be directly involved in feedback. We appreciate how important it is to communicate changes to the service with our patients, especially to those who will be directly affected, and further information will be shared as widely and publicly as possible. We will of course ensure that when the move goes ahead we will ensure that the standard and quality of care will continue to be high for all of our patients. Kind regards Melanie Davies Professor of Diabetes Medicine Leicester’s Hospitals
