My fiance gave birth to our daughter in November 2013. The midwives were calm and considerate and put both my fiance and myself at ease with any worries or questions we had. We arrived at the hospital at 7:30am, then into the birthing room at 9:30am and our daughter was born at 3.31pm. We arrived home at 8:30pm the same day.....almost in time for Corrie, as the midwife promised :o) Our daughter was born in the water and still in her 'sack' which we were told was good luck by the midwife, it was also nice that the student midwife assisting got to see a water birth for the first time. The whole experience, from arriving to be assessed in the assessment unit, to moving to the birthing centre so my fiance could give birth in the pool was excellent. A credit to a sometimes heavily criticised NHS. Hopefully the birthing centre is able to be expanded and/or more birthing pools added, as this was such an amazing experience. Do you have an email address at the birthing centre so that we can send you a photo of our baby to put on your wall outside your office? Many thanks
