In the 15th of February I was admitted to the hospital as my water broke and my baby had not engaged. Being already 10 days overdue, first baby, I was scheduled for induction on the next Monday. From the moment I stepped into the ward and the first midwife I came across tried to put me at ease by saying `You are in good hands, pet` and I can safely say now that through the four days I spent there I have felt that way. I truly believe that all the staff members, from health care assistants through midwives and the lovely anaesthesiologist, went over and beyond their duty to make sure that I was well looked after day and night. Nothing was trouble for them. My midwives were reassuring and supportive and tried their best to ensure that I understand the treatments and I was involved with the decisions. They gave me full support and patience and listened to my comments and answered my questions to the best of their knowledge. I would like to thank all members of the staff in the Maternity Unit, with special mentions to two particular midwives, because they work extremely hard and up to a very high standard to make sure that a mum-to-be can feel safe in a delicate time.
