I had an appointment for an endoscopy at Wellington Road Surgery, Newport. I work full time and had to re-arrange days off, as did a colleague who came with me to the appointment.
I do not have family who live locally. As I sat on the car park of the surgery, they called me to cancel the appointment. Unavoidable I know as they had had a power cut and could not sterilize the equipment.
I called the next day for a further appointment which they fitted me in for the following week. Again I re-arranged days off, as did one of my colleagues. When I attended the appointment, the staff were very happy to explain what would happen and also very kind. I was extremely nervous and they did their best to put me at ease.
The doctor gave me the results of the endoscopy straight away which put my mind at rest. Although when I attended my doctor for results of a scan the next day, he said I did not need to have an endoscopy as scan showed why I had pain in my stomach.
"Staff did their best to put me at ease"
