"Pleasantly surprised"

About: Watford General Hospital

My husband had to attend AAU after visiting his GP with a possible heart problem. This was our first time to Watford and we thought it would be like our previous hospital. We had a little wait as it was on a Thursday and it was very busy. A very pleasant nurse came and took us through to another department, where we were advised that we would be spending most of the day there.=, this was because all the necessary test would be done on the day, amazing, most places you go to, you are returned to your GP and then sent for various test on different days. We obviously had to wait for blood results, and chest x-ray's etc. My husband was offered food at lunch time, and I had the offer of a sandwich as well, there was unlimited tea, coffee and water, and the staff kept checking on all the patients waiting, not just my husband. There was a very elder gentleman waiting for transport, the receptionist kept coming over to make sure he was okay, and chased up the transport. All the staff were smiling, caring even though they were extremely busy I cannot praise them enough, well done Watford General, if all your departments are as good as this one you can;t go wrong

Thank you for taking the time to let us have feedback about your husband's recent experience of being admitted to our acute admissions unit (AAU) at Watford Hospital. I am sorry to hear your husband was unwell and hope he is now on the mend. Your positive comments about the AAU and it's team are really appreciated and I have passed them on. I know they will be really grateful. The team are often very busy and kind feedback like yours is good for morale. Thank you again for letting us have feedback. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need to. My email is antony.tiernan@whht.nhs.uk or your can tweet me via @AntonyTiernan. Alternatively, you can call 01923 436 229.
