"Emergency admission"

About: Cumberland Infirmary

I was admitted after long wait in emergency admission ward,10/2/2014. The department was terribly busy, but we were kept informed and I could hear the phone calls being made to find me a bed. Scans and xrays where prompt. The most urgent cases took priority, which is as it should be. After a bed was found I was treated with gentleness and care. I was consulted on every procedure, and everything was explained. The nursing staff could not have been more kind and the surgical team visited and made me feel calmer by explaining everything that was involved in my operation. Aftercare was perfect, the ward staff being on call when needed and attentive to my needs. A gentle sense of humour being invaluable. I have nothing but praise for all involved in my treatment,

Thank you so much for letting us know of the care you have received here at Cumberland Infirmary, in particular for taking the time to get in touch during your period of recovery. I am delighted to hear that your journey through our emergency pathway was so satisfactory, and that all aspects of the system worked together smoothly for you.It is very pleasing to hear that all the staff you encountered delivered care in a compassionate and inclusive way , and that the standards of care that we aim to deliver have so evidently been met. I will ensure that the teams are made aware of this positive feedback. Very best wishes for your continued recovery, and thanks you again for contacting us.
