I had a total hip replacement.. Overall the care was excellent and I was well informed. Food was excellent which surprised me. The only criticism I would make is that the first night after surgery if would be so nice if you were asked if you would like to clean your teeth and have a mouth wash. This was not offered nor the straightening of the bottom bed sheet which can get very rucked up. I unfortunately I did have an accident with the bedpan and needed the bed changed. This was done very efficiently, but my skin was not washed where it had sat in urine. I was very surprised by this and did not say anything. The ward did appear to work as a team and the cleanliness was excellent by the young man who did it. Overall I know how lucky we are to have such excellent hospitals and a brilliant NHS. Having lived in America I know how I value our fantastic system. My criticisms are purely a training issues which a good manager can solve.
