"Poor care after crash"

About: Lincoln County Hospital

I took my husband in after a car crash and we were quickly seen by a junior doctor. The ambulance crew from LCH reviewed the other driver but didn't even look at my husband despite his car eventually being a write off. As the other driver have been taken in and stated he had 'clipped the other car' the doctors didn't ask much about the crash and just went on what the other driver told them.Got my husband to bend over and touch his toes, without even x-raying his back, and only bothered to send to him to x-ray after we finally managed to get them to look at photos from scene. Send home and told to keep mobile before being recalled urgently for a CT scan when the file was reviewed by a consultant. Just appalling as it turned out he had fractures in his spine. Second rate health care that could have left him with permanent damage. Lincolnshire deserves better!

Dear Anon

The A&E Department is very sorry to hear that the injury was not diagnosed, but in order to provide appropriate feedback to all the staff concerned in your husband's care, and take steps to improve our service, it would be appreciated if you could contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service to provide us with further information. PALS can be contacted directly on 01522 707071 or via email pals@ulh.nhs.uk.
