"Great service at A&E from start to finish"

About: The Princess Royal Hospital (Telford)

I visited my GP with a large swelling in my cheek, my GP looked and asked me to visit the dentist immediately (initially thought it was a reaction to other medicine), the dentist asked me to go straight to A&E. I got to A&E and was seen by triage within about 5 minutes and then seen by a doctor within less than 20 minutes. The Doctor was unsure what they could do as they don't normally deal with mouth/dental issues. After an X-Ray, She sent for an Oral and Maxillofacial who came down within minutes and decided he would try and treat me to allow immediate relief of the swelling. The doctor spent a good 30-60 minutes with me, talking me through the process at all times, he was very attentive and incredibly calming (which is good when he has a razor sharp scalpel in your mouth!). I could not have wished for better care. Well done to all the team and thank you for caring and dealing with.

That is incredibly heartening to hear. I am sure every one of us would wish for that combination of pace, professionalism and calming care when faced with an emergency. This really gives a great example of the NHS at its best. I am very grateful that you have shared this with us and have already written it onto one of our "Thank You" cards so that I, or one of my colleagues from the Board or Executive Team, can take this in person to the A&E team at the Princess Royal Hospital to share your kind words. Thanks again Adrian Osborne Communications Director
