"Keep up the wonderful work"

About: Perth Royal Infirmary / General Medicine

(as a relative),

My elderly mother in law had to attend Perth Royal to get her leg seen to as they thought she might have a clot. The GP had told me there was a new unit that we would have to attend. I must admit I was quite dubious about bringing her up as we have had to attend a similar unit where we are from in Yorkshire and it was not a nice experience.

How wrong I was! ! ! !

We were greater by a lovely smiling nurse (Rachel? Rebecca? ) who explained exactly what was going to happen with the scans. My mother in law still didn't really understand what was happening so the nurse sat with her for ages going over it and what she might expect when she went to X-ray while we were waiting for the doctor. I am very grateful for this as we could see she was clearly very busy. The young doctor we saw (Miss MacNicol) had the same amount of care and patience with my mother in law.

After the scans my mother in law needed a medicine that was quite complicated to understand. Again the nurse sat down and fully explained it all to us writing it all down in a book for us. At this point she must have had another 3 or 4 patients in the unit requiring her attention so I was very greatfull for the extra time she took with us. You could see both the nurse and doctor were very busy, but throughout our visit they continued to smile and cheer everyone up, especially those of us that had already been there several hours.

When the nurse went for lunch a lovely assistant nurse came and sat with us (Fiona) she sat with my mother in law while I was able to go to the car park and on my return my mother in law was elated with the stories they had been discussing.

We have moved back down south now so I'm not sure how to pass on my thanks to these girls. If you could show them this I would be forever grateful. Keep up the wonderful work you do and please keep smiling!
