"I have not been given an appointment "

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as a service user),

My GP was great. I’d taken my son to the doctors 3 times within 4 months with earache on the third occasion my GP referred me as he thought my son had an ear infection.

He explained what would happen next. I did have a telephone call from TRAQS several days later. However, I explained I have no transport to travel to hospitals out of the area. Because of this, I have not been given an appointment and will have to wait for another call in a few months.

I do not mind waiting a few months, what I do mind is not being given an appointment there and then. I cannot see why we couldn’t have an appointment day or time made there and then. I do not mind how long it takes.

If we had an appointment made at least I know we will not be forgotten.

Thank you for your feedback.

It's reassuring to note that your son's referral was dealt with promptly by your GP and TRAQS. TRAQS aim is to ensure that an appointment is booked as quickly as possible at your choice of hospital. Sometimes, depending on waiting lists, this may result in some delay, which is why we also offer an alternative location, which may provide an earlier bookable appointment. However, as yu have pointed out, you are unable to travel to other hospitals due to your lack of transport.

Unfortunately TRAQS does have a facility to book appointments so far ahead as we are totally reliant on the hospital making appointments available to us. As mentioned in our letter if you are not connected by the hospital/clinic within 6 weeks, you can contact TRAQS and we will make suitable enquiries on your behalf. I can confirm that your son's referral will not be overlooked.

Nevertheless, your comments are greatly appreciated.
