Professional attitute of consultants

What could be improved

Referring to the general availability of the GU Clinic and the service it provides, I believe the times for making an appointment and gaining one's results should be greatly improved. Opening times are limited and even during opening hours the phone either continues to ring or goes to voicemail, where you can't even leave a message. Emphasising how the results are delivered, both over the phone and in person, I think it highly unnecessary to relay each test result one by one, in no particular order, whether you tested negative or positive for an STI. Surely as a patient requiring treatment, unnessesary anxiety should be avoided by the nurse immediately telling patients of any positive results. Not all GU clinic patients are irresponsible unsafe sex participants, but instead are just taking responsibility for their sexual health and therefore shouldn't be demonised, which is how it seems when results are given in this manner. Finally, in relation to the Red Clinic service at Poole, I find it a shortcoming that patients should have to publically hand over urine samples to the reception staff in full view of other waiting patients. This should be given back to the consultant in private and professional manner.

Anything else?

Apart from the unfortunate points I feel needed to be raised, the thoroughness and professionalism of the actual consultants are second to none.
