I had a bad experience during my stay and birth of my 4th child at the Bolton Royal infirmary. Although I had contractions every 5 mins at 2am I was sent home only to return again after a few hours. I was a bit shocked and wasn't expected to go through my labour on the floor mat. I was experiencing difficulty in this pregnancy getting up and sitting down on the floor anyway.
We were left on our own basically to get on with the labour. After the horrendous birth of my baby I was so weak that I couldn't get myself up from the floor. I asked for a hand to help me get myself up to which the midwife refused. Made me so upset she just told me to get myself up. We were shocked.
My family member had to hand over the baby to the other midwife so I could be helped up to get to the toilet to try and deliver my placenta that was retained. Straight after, although I couldn't walk or talk, I was told to go home and was offered no care, meal, attention etc
I believe it's only Bolton that provides such bad service. All my friends in Preston and Blackburn have nothing but praise for their maternity care units.
