"Left dreading my return"

About: Mount Vernon Cancer Centre

Staffing I was surprised that the reception queue was so long, I waited 23 minutes to reach the front. There were people much less able to stand than I. I was seen promptly by the radiographers for my radiotherapy planning . Communication I was seen by a young woman whom I assume was a student. The students explanations were very poor, she was friendly enough, not rude just unclear in her communication. I was not told she was a student until half way through the procedure and this obviously took longer than normal and left me with discomfort. I also believe it would have been better to supervise her patient contact. However I was shocked at how little was done as the letter I received said I could expect to be there half a day. This caused problems with transport provision. Hygiene/Maintenence My "consultation/chat" was done at a desk in a corridor covered with buckets and bowls with dirty rain water in. Best bit was the man in the post room selling car park tokens, actually spoke to me like a normal human being and knew what he was doing.

You are clearly unhappy with the care you received at our Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, about which we know the team there will be very concerned. Perhaps you might contact us at generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net so that we can put you in touch with the team's manager so that we can seek to restire your confidence in the cancer centre? We hope that you give us that chance.
