About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

I went to the a and.e department yesterday. With jaw ache. I had not been to the doctor before I went hospital. I was told it was not an emergency and should of gone to the doctor. However I explained that I have not had a day off work in 13 year and this week I have two days off so yes I am ill. I was given some tablets and sent on my way. However I went back today with the same issue and today I got x rayed to find that I have an wisdom tooth growing sideways. Yesterday I was told that an appointment will take up to 8 weeks even though I am in agony. Today they told me I can come monday. As the clinic is closed over weekends. I have worked 13 years paid my taxes my national insurance and I get treated like a fool. Thank you leics nhs

Response from Leicester Royal Infirmary

Dear Tom, I am sorry to hear of your bad experience. Please could we ask for some more details through our Patient Information and Liaison Service (PILS) so we can look into this further. You can do that online at www.leicestershospitals.nhs.uk/patients/patient-welfare/patient-information-and-liaison-service, email pils@uhl-tr.nhs.uk or free phone 08081 788337. It is our strong desire to treat all of our patients with respect while ensuring they are seen in the right place, by the right people and without undue delay. Sometimes the hospital is the right place, sometimes it might be a clinic or a patient's GP. In every case however, we must understand not just the medical side of an illness but also how it impacts on our patient and work together to find the best solution. I am glad to know the cause of your pain has been identified and hopefully being addressed. Thank you for sharing your concerns. We hope to hear from you so we can investigate this and get back to you. Yours sincerely, Pro Mukherjee Consultant in Emergency Medicine Leicester's Hospitals
